Tanya Mirabal Moya is a second-generation Valencia County resident who has spent her life — and the last four years as our State Representative — fighting to make District 7 a better place to live, work, and raise a family.​

A proud graduate of Belén High School, Tanya's path to public service ran straight through Valencia County. She's put in the hours on an exploration drill rig, served local families as an insurance agent, and stepped into the classroom as a physical education teacher. After earning her teaching license, "Coach T" — as her students know her — returned to Belén High to teach biology, physics, and chemistry, and to coach youth sports teams across our community.

That same dedication is what she carries to the Roundhouse. For the past four years, Tanya has represented District 7 in the New Mexico Legislature, fighting for safer streets, stronger schools, and the working families who make Valencia County home — including standing up for the educators and school employees who keep our kids learning.

But for Tanya, this has never been about a title. She drives the same roads, sent her kids to the same schools, and walks the same streets she's working every day to make safer. Tanya and her husband Jason have been married for 21 years and have four children — Jacee, Joshua, Tori, and Trenten — and one grandson, Quintin.
